To crosslist from Poshmark to Depop, first copy photos, then paste text from the original listings, and then remove Poshmark style tags and turn them to Depop hashtags. The one thing that matters the most is to remove the other listing as soon as it sells, because you can't sell the same thing twice.
What you need before moving a single listing
Poshmark and Depop are similar in the sense that you're basically describing the item the same way; the title does the heavy lifting and gets up to 80 characters; and the description usually remains blank. However, on Depop, the description is important, and the first line is what shoppers see. So, your title from Poshmark becomes the opening line of a Depop description, not a blank field you can just forget about.
The second change is photos. On Poshmark, the photos in the feed are all in a square format, and many sellers on Poshmark frame their photos in that format. On Depop, the crop frame is different and based on aspect ratio. You want the full item in the photo shown in the feed. The third change is tags. On Poshmark, tags are given options from a list, and on Depop, sellers can use up to 5 hashtags in the description. On Poshmark, a tag like boho might get used, and on Depop, that would translate to #boho and other hashtags people actually use.
Before you start, you should have:
- The original photos for each item, preferably in a phone folder or album named by SKU. Screenshots work in a pinch but aren't as good.
- A short list of 10-20 pieces you want to move first, of items that might be of interest to the Depop audience (streetwear, Y2K, indie brands, denim, dresses, and vintage).
- Your measurements, because Depop shoppers ask for pit to pit and length as frequently as Poshmark shoppers do.
- Getting started with Depop can be quite the challenge. It takes a decent amount of time to set up your first couple of listings (to set up shipping and payout for example) and some people don't make it past that first step.
- I found a simple tracking sheet that helped me out a lot. It has columns for item, Poshmark price, Depop price and date listed. It really helps me see what I have listed on what site.
Budget about 6-10 minutes to do one listing by hand. It will definitely take longer the first few times you do it because you are basically learning where Depop puts each field.
Steps to copy a Poshmark listing onto Depop
You basically have to repeat your work and rearrange your closet for every new listing. Depop really does have some great features though and it's not a bad app to work with. This method is completely manual so you don't really need anything but the two apps.
- Here's the method:
- 1. Open the Poshmark listing and copy the title into a notes app.
- 2. Copy the full Poshmark description into the same note, under the title.
- 3. Write down the brand, size, color, condition and category exactly like they are on Poshmark.
- 4. Rewrite the title in one, simple, opening sentence with the brand, item, size and the quality that most sells the item (i.e. this could be the era the item is from, the fabric type, etc).
- 5. Trim the description so the most useful measurements and flaws are at the beginning and the least useful are at the end.
- 6. Add up to 5 Depop hashtags based on what you wrote on Poshmark.
- 7. Upload the clearest full-item photo as the first photo on Depop.
- Make any adjustments to the first photo to make sure the entire item is shown and there is a small amount of space at the top and bottom.
- Rework the description.
- Copy the brand and the other details to the best of your ability, as opposed to relying solely on the description.
- Set the price taking into account your margin after Depop fees rather than blindly following the Poshmark price.
- Choose shipping and confirm the package size matches the item's weight.
- Post the listing and add it to your tracking sheet, along with the date.
- When the item sells on either app, delete the listing on the other one the same day.
Step 12 requires a pause. Poshmark takes a flat fee on sales under $15, and a 20% fee above that. Many sellers charge more on Poshmark listings to account for the fees, and use PrimesLister's free Poshmark fee calculator to see how much they actually make on Poshmark to price items on Depop. Make sure to check Depop's fee page to see how that side is structured.
Step 15 is the step that gets skipped. Double sales are the cost of crosslisting by hand, and the fix is a new habit. You will want to treat sale notifications from either app as a task to complete before anything else.
Worked example: one floral midi dress, start to finish
Below is a single dress moved by hand across the 3 platforms, using the steps in the guide and actual numbers from the listing. On Poshmark the dress is titled Reformation Floral Midi Dress Size 6 Wrap Cottagecore NWOT. That is 58 characters, and front loaded with keywords. The description notes it as 100% viscose and has a pit to pit of 17", a length of 47" and was tried on once. Style tags are cottagecore, floral and midi. The price is set at $88.
For steps 4 and 5, the title becomes a sentence: Reformation Floral Wrap Midi Dress, size 6, soft viscose with a tie waist, worn once for try-on, no tags. Next come the measurements: pit to pit 17 in, length 47 in, waist adjustable with ties. Then the flaw line: no flaws, small loose thread inside the hem, shown in photo 6. The style tags become hashtags and appear on the last line: #reformation #cottagecore #floraldress #wrapdress #midi. These hashtags bump the post to the 5th allowed.
For photos, the cover on Poshmark was a close-up square shot, where the hem touched the edge. In the Depop frame, that crop would clip the hem, so the dress was re-cropped to show about an inch of background above the shoulders and below the hem. The other photos were in this order: back view, fabric detail, tie waist, brand tag, the loose thread and a measurement with a tape across the chest. All together 8 photos.
The category was set to dresses, brand was typed and picked from suggestions, size was set to US 6, condition was set to like new, and color was set to multi. The price was set to $78. Reasoning: On Pos.hmark, the price is set at $88, and 20% fee is $17.60. Thus the net payout would be $70.40. The $78 price is set keeping in mind the 20% fee and it also aligns with the payout of Pos.hmark listing, and also caters to the clientele of Depop, which is prices conscious. For shipping, the standard shipping option on Depop was selected.
The whole process took about 9 minutes, with most of the time spent on the photo crop and the rewrite of the description. The tracking sheet now shows: Reformation floral midi, $88 on Poshmark, $78 on Depop. Listed on both. If the Depop listing sells on a Tuesday afternoon, the Poshmark listing is removed that same day, not that night. Repeat this 19 times to get the idea.
Per-listing conversion checklist
After listing an item on Depop, go through the following check list, because most errors on crosslisting occur due to small oversights that are pointed out by a prospective customer.
- The first line of the description names the brand, item, size, and includes one selling detail. It is written in a sentence, rather than a key-word string.
- No leftover Poshmark wording (i.e. bundle discounts, references to Posh Parties or offers made through Poshmark) remains.
- Measurements and flaws are disclosed in the first few lines as opposed to being buried at the bottom.
- There are no more than five hashtags and each one is relevant to a search Depop shoppers would use.
- The first photo shows the entire item as opposed to showing only a portion of the item.
- Flaw photos are included if the description mentions a flaw.
- The relevant fields (i.e. category, brand, size, condition, and color) are filled out as opposed to being typed in the description.
- The price leaves a reasonable margin after fees for both apps.
- The shipping option and packaging are consistent with the item’s weight.
- The item is logged in your tracking sheet with the price, the listing date, and the app it was listed on.
- You know how you will catch a sale on either app and delete the other listing the same day.
Once a week, compare both closets to your spreadsheet. Anything sold on one app but still active on the other should be the first thing you fix. If you have fewer than 200 listings, this should work, as long as you maintain your spreadsheet.

Frequently asked questions
Should I charge the same price on both apps? Not necessarily. Once you know the fees, decide what you'll keep and set prices that feel acceptable to you; many sellers price items slightly lower on Depop.
Can I just screenshot my photos for Poshmark? Yes, you can, but screenshots aren't as clear and include borders. Use the original files if you still have them.
What should I list first? Items that Depop's audience is more likely to want, like streetwear, vintage, and denim, and dresses, are good to start with. Leave basics for later.
