Neither Poshmark nor Mercari allows eBay listing imports, because both marketplaces lack a native eBay import button. You can crosslist them with a tool that reads your eBay store, or you can do it manually. The most important field mapping is fields that do carry over well. Photos, titles and descriptions all carry over easily. Size and shipping almost always need to be adjusted on the destination.
How an eBay listing becomes a Poshmark or Mercari listing
To move your eBay catalog to Poshmark or Mercari, it's best to do a sort-then-copy instead of a one-time bulk transfer. A busy eBay store typically has a fair amount of slow movers. These are likely the best candidates to test out new audiences with. Work through the catalog in this order:
- Clean the source. Get rid of listings with no bids and/or remove any duplicate listings. Also, add any item specifics that are missing, because these also copy over.
- Decide what goes where. With respect to category, Poshmark is best for clothing and Mercari is best for house goods and other items that Poshmark doesn't accept.
- Copy the listing data. Photos, titles and descriptions all copy over easily. For photos, the max allowed on eBay is 24. Keep in mind that Mercari and Poshmark both have a limit of 8. Keep your best cover photo at the front of the listing.
- Update the category, size, and condition fields, and enter shipping information. This process takes up the majority of the time per listing.
- Price the item based on the marketplace. Fees differ per marketplace, so the same item will require a different price on Poshmark vs. eBay.
- List the item, and link the listings, so that a sale of one ends the others.
eBay lets you enter item specifics. The information is extremely valuable, and easily transferable to Poshmark and Mercari attributes or description. Condition doesn't map as directly, but the idea is similar. eBay's New with tags, New without tags, and Pre-owned carry over to Poshmark conditions and Mercari's New, Like new, Good, Fair and Poor. Best Offer is also transferable. While eBay has features that automatically accept or decline offers based on your settings, that's not the case with Poshmark or Mercari, so you'll need to set your floor price separately on each.
Copying product listings by hand is completely workable if you’re only interested in listing your top 50 sellers on the new marketplaces. At 5-8 minutes a listing, you’re looking at 4-7 hours of work in a week, but anything more than 100 listings becomes very inefficient.
Where eBay listings break on Poshmark and Mercari
Breaking fields like ‘Category’, ‘Size’ and ‘Shipping’ can be very costly. ‘Category’ is broken the most. eBay’s category tree is much larger than Poshmark’s, and therefore a leaf category may not be found at all on Poshmark. Not picking the correct category results in buyers that are shopping by category to not see your listing.
| eBay field | Poshmark | Mercari |
|---|---|---|
| Photos, title, description | Carries over; trim photo count | Carries over; trim photo count and description length |
| Item specifics | Maps to brand, color and description | Maps to brand, color and description |
| Condition | Needs translating to NWT or used options | Needs translating to a five-step scale |
| Best Offer | Offers exist, thresholds don't carry | Offers exist, thresholds don't carry |
| Category | Must be remapped; narrower tree | Must be remapped; different tree |
| Size | Must match Poshmark's size options | Must match Mercari's size options |
| Shipping | Replaced by Poshmark's flat label | Rebuilt by weight and who pays |
Breaking ‘Size’ can be costly as well. eBay allows you to enter item specifics for size, and as a result, you may see entries like 32” waist, Medium Tall, or EU 39. If you’re listing on Poshmark or Mercari and you don’t see options for sizes similar to your entries, you can expect your listings to not be seen in filtered searches for size.
Breaking ‘Shipping’ can also prove costly. Nothing you enter for shipping on eBay will affect how you list on Poshmark. Poshmark always provides a prepaid label and to ship something heavy like a coat, you’ll have to account for that in your listing. On Mercari, if you’re guessing low for the weight of the item you’re listing, it’ll negatively affect your seller payout.
The biggest mistake is selling the same item twice. Once a single item is live in more than one listing, a sale anywhere means you have to quickly end the other listings, or you're taking a loss on seller metrics and/or customer experience.
Some parts of this job are very monotonous and time consuming. You have to copy hundreds of individual listings and make sure they don't oversell once they are live. PrimeLister helps with crossing listings to Poshmark, eBay, Mercari, Depop, Etsy, and Facebook Marketplace. All of your items that are listed on eBay can be crossed to new listings to reach a new customer base without having to build each listing from scratch.

Questions resellers ask next
Should I end my eBay listings after crosslisting?
Keep your items live on eBay. You want to have as many buyers as possible on each item and eBay still generates its own search traffic. Just make sure a sale on one marketplace removes the listing from the others.
Do I need new photos for Poshmark?
Most listings on Poshmark require a cover photo, so the first photo needs to be a good crop. Cluttered backgroundsread poorly, so a hanger shot or flat lay is better.
Should prices match across marketplaces?
Yes, it's okay to price the same on all 3 marketplaces. Each takes a different cut and shipping is different, so the same payout needs a different list price.
What should I move first?
Start with items that have been on eBay for over 60 days and see if they align with Poshmark's customer base. Your fastest eBay sellers are already selling, so they have the least to gain from a new audience.
